The main festival is hosted in August and features a holistic programme:
· Art competitions in visual art, poetry and photography · The School of Creative Arts hosts art lessons in a variety of art forms throughout the year, using the Feast of the Clowns to showcase the work and local talent
· Workshops around the annual festival theme focus on awareness raising and grass-root action on relevant issues facing the city
· Film festivals bring movies to various audiences, including a shelter for homeless adults · Three evening performances at the State Theatre during the festival week feature well known artists and aim at awareness raising and marketing the Feast of the Clowns
· A playful, peaceful protest march through the inner city streets invites people to the festival and creates an opportunity for critical reflection on issues regarding people in the city
· Three stages featuring local & well known artists · Fun activities for children between 0-99 years · Information stalls by various social service providers · Local food, arts & crafts stalls
· Hosted by different church congregations in the city |
