The Feast of the Clowns has been part of the city’s calendar since 2000. Hosted by the Tshwane Leadership Foundation (TLF) in conjunction with other local role players, this is a home grown festival, locally owned and managed. It is an annual festival that started as a small street festival and now runs over a whole week. Attended by over 16,000 people including side events and workshops.
The Feast celebrates the vibrant diversity of the inner city, it provides access to well-known artists and exposure to emerging community artists and it transfers artistic skills, and builds a sense of community.
In 2008 Feast of the Clowns 2008 took place from the 11th – 17th August, with the theme “Celebrate our City – reclaim our streets”.
